1108 Taper Lock Bushings

Available in bores ranging from 1/2" to 1-1/8" (imperial) and 14mm to 25mm (metric), these bushings are the second-largest bushing type. Tapered lock bushings are used in applications where narrow lengths of through-holes are required or shaft mounting needs to be close to the bearing. The universal design keeps center loads small, preventing problems with high cantilever loads. The 1108 bushings are separated by a flange, while the tapered bushing provides true clamping on the shaft, equivalent to a "shrink fit".

Installation

1.清洗所有的油,污垢,从轴和油漆,bushing holes, bushing exterior, and bores of components (sprockets, pulleys, etc.).
2. Insert the bushing into the assembly. Match hole patterns, not threaded holes (each hole is threaded on one side only).
3. Thread the set screw or cap screw into the half-threaded hole shown below. Install the assembly on the shaft.
4. Alternately set the torque setting or cap screw* to the recommended torque setting in the table below.
5. Fill all unoccupied holes with grease.

Removal

1.Remove any retaining or cap screws.
2. Insert the set screw or cap screw into the hole shown above.
3. To reinstall, complete all five (5) installation instructions.

What is the symptom of a damaged bushing?

Type W bushings are used for high-pressure applications. Using a new bushing may help extend the life of your existing bushing, but if you're already replacing it, you should know that it can also lead to catastrophic failure. The risk of bushing failure increases with age and voltage levels. Bushings with rated voltages greater than 230 kV are considered the highest risk. Rated voltages between 100 kV and 230 kV are considered low risk.
Electrical bushings are critical in high voltage applications. They allow electrical conductors to safely pass through conductive barriers. The insulating material used in the bushing affects the voltage rating of the electrical system. The casing must be able to withstand normal continuous service and occasional high-pressure transients. To ensure that electrical bushings are leak-resistant, they must be able to withstand voltages higher than normal continuous operating voltage.
Type W bushings are available in different thread configurations. Oil-filled bushings are designed for vertical installation, while recessed bushings accommodate line lead connections inside the lower end. While recessed bushings reduce the reserve factor between coupling torque and bushing torque, they add cost. In addition to oil-filled bushings, you can also choose bushings without sight glass.
